Some old bullshit

As I had promised in my latest post, now I came with my Xmas present for my readers. Today I have uploaded 4 ancient releases I have done from 2001 to 2004. The beginning of everything! Old, dirty, shitty, noisy, screamy, bad produced, nasty stuff. Got it?

My first demo was done in 2001, but I can’t find it anywhere but this weird God Rekidz release in Archive.org, with 128bps files.You can stream the record too, they say. Probably the mp3 quality won’t be a problem for anyone as this shit is noisy as hell and there’s no highs or bass anywhere. Everything in its max volume, digital clipping madness and no mastering or anything. Anyway, now I love these tracks, it’s like pictures of me in 2001 but better, because this music was surely the best thing I was doing at that time.

The second record is the Death Triangle Split, released through the internet and in CDrs. It was a 3 way split with Droon, myself and Skeeter (who would do another split with me, now in vinyl, in 2009!). In my opinion, in this one I took a step backwards, trying to make it more organized than in the demo and doing a big pile of shit! The only track I really like is “Anal Intruder” which is probably my favorite track of mine in the pre-2006. Well, at least you can listen what the other people where doing in their “sides”. I think this is Droon’s first release. For those who don’t know, Droon is famous for his awesome live sets and for being one of the organizers of the legendary Breakcore Gives Me Wood parties in Belgium. Those are the coolest and maybe the most important events in breakcore scene ever! I played there in 2004 with Droon himself!

In the other hand, the split with Preto Velho and Shiftplus is something I am now proud of been part of. Preto Velho was a Power Violence / Crust Core / Macumba / Grindcore band from Belo Horizonte that I was really into at the time. The guys were friends of mine too and were very interested in the kind of noise I was doing so we decided that we should do this release. Koji, the band’s vocalist did vocals in two of my tracks and I added some breaks and samples in one of their tracks. We also asked Shiftplus, the noise/breaks/powerviolence duo from Sweden, for some tracks, as they were one of our biggest references at the time. We did all the CD package by hand, cutting paper, printing artwork, burning medias and everything. It was hell. No more than 100 copies were made, what makes this release very very hard to find these days. This is probably the first ever site to post these mp3s in the internet, so these one is the catch to do here, got it? Oh, and there’s something else, Preto Velho drummer, Marcelo Reis, is a video maker now and he is worldly acclaimed for being the director of the EZ Money video .

The last release in our archeological effort is the Brazil versus Germany part 2 split. My first vinyl appearance sharing sides with LFO Demon backed by Restroom Records, from Germany. Before I even start, I want to remind everybody that you can still find this in some shops and that in a near future you can buy the mp3s at the RRR shop. I ask everybody to buy this if you can, because Stefan from RRR deserves all the help in the world! He released this shitty producer from Brasil only because he believed in my horrible music! Restroom is famous for releasing the first record of several artists, always supporting in the new talent, so any help for them is welcome!

This split is another release I have some issues about. I ridiculously  stuffed 6 tracks in 13 minutes and didn’t know shit about proper mixing or mastering. Or anything about composing . It was a great opportunity for me and I am very grateful for  all the support I had at the time from Stefan and also Daniel Eiterherd. I just wish I could take the opportunity to make a great record or at least reasonable music. Well, it is done and there’s some moments, specially the Anal Intruder track and Máquina, one of the tracks with Koji in vocals I did.

For now, that’s it, but there are more material from that time to post. I still have to find all the remixes I did or some other artist did with my tracks and I didn’t forget about the stuff I did from 2004 to 2006, another important step building my sound. Yesterday, while I was looking for this shit in Soulseek (Yeah, I downloaded all this from there, I am a pirate of myself) I found a remix End.user did with one of my tracks, back in 2003 I think. I did a remix for him too, but I don’t have it anymore. Maybe he has it, I’m gonna ask him.

Como eu já tinha prometido no último post, venho trazer para meus leitores um presentinho de fim de ano. Subi hoje 4 lançamentos bem antigos, bem toscos mesmo, que fiz entre 2001 e 2004. Os primórdios do que eu fiz como retrigger, coisa velha, tosca, barulhenta, tosca, gritada, mal feita, tosca, lo-fi, nojenta e, bem… tosca. Sacou?

Minha primeira demo foi feita em 2001, só que não consigo achá-la em lugar nenhum além de um lançamento da God Rekidz, netlabel da Nova Zelândia, só com mp3 128kbs. Dá pra ouvir tudo num stream só, também. Provavelmente não faz muita diferença a qualidade do mp3s por que o bagulho é nojento mesmo. Tudo está estourando no volume e na distorção, não fiz nenhuma masterização ou qualquer coisa pra fazer isto soar bem. Eu usava vários efeitos “exóticos” nos instrumentos, tipo delay nos bumbos e um monte de reverb nos breaks e distorção logo depois pra ficar mais barulhento ainda… De qualquer jeito, eu adoro essas músicas hoje, são como ver uma foto minha de 2001, só que mais legal, por que desta época só lembro que fazia essas músicas e que eu era bem confuso da cabeça.

O segundo registro é o Death Triangle, lançado na internet e em CDrs, que era um split entre mim, o Droon e o  Skeeter (que agora em 2009 fez comingo um segundo split em vinil!). Na minha opinião, neste disco eu dei um passo pra trás, tentando fazer as coisas mais organizadas que na demo, mas acabando só fazendo uma grande merda. A única que salva mesmo é a “Anal Intruder”, provavelmente minha música preferida de todo o período pré 2006, pré Jeanie and Caroline. Pelo menos dá pra ouvir o que o resto do pessoal fez, acho que este foi o primeiro lançamento do Droon, que é famoso pelo grande live set e por organizar as festas Breakcore Gives Me Wood, as mais importantes de toda a cena breakcore. Em 2004 eu toquei lá, junto com ele.

O split com o Preto Velho e o Shiftplus, por outro lado, me dá um certo orgulho hoje em dia. O Preto Velho era uma banda de power violence / crust core / macumba / grindcoredomalfromhell daqui de Belo Horizonte, que eu gostava muito na época. Os caras eram amigos meus, estavam muito interessados nessa barulhada que eu fazia e decidimos gravar esse disco juntos. Além do Koji, vocal da banda, fazer vocais em duas músicas minhas eu também fiz uns breaks em uma música deles. Pra acompanhar a gente, chamamos o Shiftplus, uma dupla da Suécia, que fazia um breakcore / power violence muito foda e que era uma das nossas maiores referências pra mistura do punk rock e os breaks na época. Fizemos as capas e arte toda na mão, cortando papel, gravando cds, imprimindo as artes. Foi um trabalho desgraçado e fizemos umas 100 cópias no máximo, por isto este disco é uma raridade e provavelmente este é o primeiro lugar a disponibilizá-lo na internet. Este vale a pena baixar mesmo. Em tempo:  o Didi, baterista do Preto Velho, também é conhecido como Marcelo Reis, diretor do videoclipe da minha música EZ Money!

Finalizando este momento arqueológico, subi também meu primeiro lançamento em vinil, outro split, agora como LFO Demon, da Alemanha. Antes de tudo, gostaria de lembrar quem tá lendo que o disco ainda pode ser encontrado em algumas lojas e que a Restroom Records vai vendê-lo também em formato digital em breve. Quem puder, por favor, compre este disco, por que o Stefan da RRR merece. O cara lançou um brasileiro idiota, com umas músicas muito mal produzidas e pessimamente mixadas só por acreditar em mim e no meu som.A RRR é famosa por lançar os primeiros discos de vários artistas, sempre apostando em quem tá começando. Esse tipo de coisa tem que ser apoiada e estes míseros dinheiros gastos nos mp3s já são alguma coisa.

Voltando a falar do disco, como é um split, eu só tinha um lado pra por minhas músicas, mesmo assim eu arrumei um jeito de por 6, por que a média de duração delas era tipo 2 minutos, uma coisa assim… ridículo. Este é outro disco que eu tenho muitas reservas e me arrependo muito de não entender algumas coisas sobre mixar e tirar bons sons dos sinths naquele momento. Foi uma grande oportunidade pra mim, o que eu vou agradecer ao Stefan e ao Daniel da Widerstand pra sempre, mas eu gostaria muito de ter aproveitado o espaço para fazer um grande disco. Bem, fiz e tá feito, ouçam e comentem!

Por agora vai ser só isto, mas tem muito mais coisa pra postar desta época. Tenho que achar os remixes que eu fiz e que fizeram de mim e também por aqui as coisas que eu fiz entre 2004 e 2006, outra etapa importante na evolução do meu som. Ontem procurando estas músicas no soulseek (sim, eu não tenho mais nada, tive que me piratear) eu ainda encontrei um remix que o End.user fez de uma música minha, eu nem lembrava mais que a gente tinha trocado remixes! Eu tenho que achar o remix que eu fiz pra ele, acho que o próprio deve ter. Vamos ver no que dá.
